AAUW Dialog

On August 29, we posted a profile of Jane Chen, a 2007–08 Selected Professions Fellow. Just this past week we received an e-mail from Jane with exciting news about her start-up nonprofit, Embrace, which will offer low-cost incubators to hospitals and NGOs in India. Jane and her team of Stanford, Harvard, and Kellogg engineers, MBAs, and policy students have made it to the second round of American Express’s Member Project, which aims to “make a positive impact in the world” by awarding the top five projects a total of $2.5 million. First prize is an award of $1.5 million. Through Internet voting, Jane’s team advanced to round two of the competition, placing in the top 25 out of 1,190 projects. After this next round of voting, the top five will be announced on September 29.
