The economic climate is tough for everyone, and students are at a real disadvantage. Costs for simple things are increasing, and services are being cut left and right. They say nothing in life is free, but AAUW has just announced its FREE e-student affiliate program. The e-student affiliate program allows students who do not already have a bachelor’s degree and who attend an AAUW college/university (C/U) partner member institution to join AAUW. Benefits of the e-student affiliate program include discounts for textbooks at Barnes & Noble.com and free access to AAUW’s publications and research on gender equity in education, the gender pay gap, and sexual harassment on campus. Visit our website to find out where your members of Congress stand on issues that are important to women and girls.
AAUW engages students and faculty through programs such as
- the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, which attracts more than 500 attendees annually and will be held June 4–6, 2009, at the University of Maryland.
- the LAF Campus Outreach Program, through which AAUW members can receive funding and LAF staff support to implement a gender equity-focused program or event at their local college or university.
- Campus Action Projects that enable student leaders and campus faculty to design and implement effective programs that enhance campus offerings, promote leadership, and improve academic and career outcomes.
- Campaign College, AAUW’s new effort in partnership with American University’s Women and Politics Institute and Running Start that encourages and trains women to run for student government on their college campus.
- AAUW’s prestigious Student Advisory Council that provides essential firsthand accounts of student needs and ideas for combating sex discrimination to AAUW.
- AAUW’s Fellowship and Grants programs, which provide $4.5 million in funding for more than 250 fellowships, grants, and special awards to outstanding women annually.
