I recently received an e-mail from a fellowship alumna asking for publishing advice. She was looking for a place to publish her research about educational interventions for girls and women who are vulnerable to trafficking. What I do know is that this woman has done some amazing work and has extensive experience in the area; what I don’t know is the secret to getting published.
AAUW does its part to help women feel like they are not alone in the struggle to get their work out there. The American Dissertation Fellowship and the Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grant offer financial support for women interested in publishing. Applications for all of AAUW’s 2010–11 fellowships and grants will be available online August 1. To learn more about these fellowships or to see if you are eligible, please visit our website. To read stories of women who have successfully published their work thanks to an AAUW fellowship or grant, check out the Following the Fellows series every Friday on the AAUW Dialog blog. If you are interested in stocking your bookshelves with works published by our distinguished AAUW fellowship alumnae, browse the AAUW Published Authors lists at the AAUW Barnes and Noble site.
